Michael Dowdy is a poet, critic, essayist, and editor. His books include a study of Latinx poetry, Broken Souths: Latina/o Poetic Responses to Neoliberalism and Globalization (University of Arizona Press, 2013); a collection of poems, Urbilly (Main Street Rag Poetry Book Award, 2017); and, as coeditor with Claudia Rankine, a critical anthology, American Poets in the 21st Century: Poetics of Social Engagement (Wesleyan University Press, 2018). He teaches poetry and Latinx literature at the University of South Carolina.
